Prayer Guide

This hour is an invitation to step briefly out of motion and into dependence. Whether praying alone in an office or gathered with a few trusted colleagues, begin by protecting the time. Close the laptop. Silence notifications. Dim the lights if helpful. Shut the door and, if possible, place a simple “Do Not Disturb” note outside. Let this hour feel distinct from the rest of the day.

If praying alone, resist the temptation to multitask. Sit still. Read Scripture slowly. Allow silence to settle before speaking.

If praying with others, begin in quiet. Rotate Scripture readings aloud. Leave space between sections for unhurried prayer. Refrain from discussion or problem-solving; this hour is devoted to intercession, not strategy.

Approach this time with humility and expectancy, trusting that the Lord is present and attentive.

Stillness & Surrender

5 Minutes

Begin in silence.

Invite the Lord to quiet anxious thoughts, strategic preoccupations, and institutional pressures.

Pray:

  • For humility before God.
  • For softened hearts.
  • For renewed dependence.

Scripture Reflection:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Confession & Alignment

10 Minutes

Before praying for campuses, begin with repentance.

Ask the Spirit to search:

  • Where fear has driven leadership decisions.
  • Where numbers have overshadowed people.
  • Where self-reliance has replaced dependence.
  • Where comparison has bred anxiety or pride.

Pray for:

  • Purified motives.
  • Integrity in messaging and recruitment practices.
  • Courage to prioritize faithfulness over optics.

Scripture Reflection:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart… and lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23–24

Prayer for Students

15 Minutes

Pray for those currently on campus — and those yet to arrive.

Intercede for:

  • Spiritual awakening and renewed hunger for Christ.
  • Protection from despair, isolation, and confusion.
  • Deep belonging in authentic Christian community.
  • Clarity of calling and formation of Christlike character.

Pray especially for:

  • First-generation students.
  • Students wrestling with doubt.
  • Students far from home.
  • Students navigating mental health challenges.

Scripture Reflection:

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example…” — 1 Timothy 4:12

Prayer for Presidents & Leadership

10 Minutes

Lift up presidents, boards, provosts, cabinet members, and trustees.

Pray for:

  • Wisdom in complex decisions.
  • Courage in moments of public pressure.
  • Financial provision without mission drift.
  • Unity across leadership teams.
  • Protection from exhaustion and discouragement.

Ask that institutions would remain:

  • Christ-centered.
  • Missionally clear.
  • Faithful in public witness.

Scripture Reflection:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God…” — James 1:5

Prayer for Enrollment Leaders

15 Minutes

Pray specifically for those stewarding enrollment.

Intercede for:

  • Discernment in shaping institutional messaging.
  • Integrity in financial aid strategy and data use.
  • Freedom from fear-driven urgency.
  • Protection from burnout and cynicism.
  • Attentive listening — to students, to colleagues, and to the Lord.

Pray that enrollment leadership would be marked by:

  • Faith over fear.
  • Clarity over confusion.
  • Trust over striving.

Scripture Reflection:

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3

Dedication & Trust

5 Minutes

End by dedicating your campus and leadership to the Lord.

Pray:

  • That God would establish the work of your hands.
  • That institutional sustainability would serve Kingdom purposes.
  • That Christ would be honored in both growth and pruning seasons.

Conclude with:

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think…”
— Ephesians 3:20–21

Sit in silence for one final minute before returning to your work.
